While Ghulie's away, Muz and Andy will play. [Oct. 19th, 2006|08:56 pm]
[mood | Knackered]
[music |"Post Blue" -Placebo]

Becku, here is your bloody update.

So Toolie went to Holland, then he came back, then a week later he went again, then he came back for a weekend, then a week later he went again and at the same time Muslim went to Turkey, then they both came back on the same day, then last week Ghulie went back to Holland where he has been ever since.

Last night Muz reluctantly agreed to let his cousin's friend and his "mentor" drive 2 hours over from Southall so they could try and sell him on some shady pyramid scheme business. 2 hours later after listening to them talk, Muz says no...not that he was actually considering it. Although he came home so tired and ready to crash, the whole event amused him so much that he (with great animation) explained the whole meeting to me (I refused to be present) and told me that he could learn the presentation better in an hour and sell it to me...for sure...he could, ya know! Anyway, they left the flat at 10.30, we are laughing about it for an hour when Mr Smarty Pants decides it's shisha (hooka) time. We load it up, sit around in the dark listening to music, chatting and smoking cherry shisha. It burns out and we just sit there talking. It's 1:30 am now (when normal working people would call it a night because it was now actually Thursday morning) and what do we do? Load the shisha up for round 2....until 2.30 am.

Needless to say we both woke up early for work...shattered...yet we made plans to get some Waga's for dinner and come home and do it again. By the time we got back from dinner we were both dead, but not to worry a plan was made... I am going to bed now becausue I have no choice....tomorrow after one drink at a friend's leaving do we will come home and stay up even later playing with shisha...I worry about this, especially after the great "Prison Break" marathon debacle that was my May Bank Holiday weekend.

All this and I  just hope I am not too tired to celebrate Diwali on Saturday with Tesh....that wasn't a joke. Curry on Brick Lane.

P.S. I saw Idina Menzel in Wicked and Ashlee Simpson in Chicago...oh the joys of living in London.

It's September already? Finally an update! [Sep. 2nd, 2006|10:17 am]
[mood | accomplished]

It’s been a long time, I shouldn’t have left you, without a dope beat to step to…

Ok, the biggest news comes first. About 2 weeks into our project for RBS we were told it was likely we were going to land the campaign because we were doing such a good job. By weeks 5 it was official and the project would continue business as usual until December 31st. Now came the time to decided if we were going to move on or stay within the team. I knew that regardless the situation I would stay for one extra week to help train new people, but I would be leaving the team for good. In fact, I interviewed for a different position within the company to be a Campaign Manager. Not knowing the outcome of that interview I helped interview replacement people for our team and then spent all of last week training 7 newbies. I also found out I got the job, a pay rise, and would be starting on September 4th!

My new job is still working strictly for RBS but on their grads campaign. I think my previous experience with the Group gave me inside knowledge that I used to my advantage in my interview. It’s an 8 month recruitment project that takes 15,000 applicants who just graduated university, and whittles it down to places them in about 60 jobs. I am overseeing the placement of the Human Resources and RBS Finance candidates! Big scary responsibility but I am looking forward to it.

On Aug 23rd I went to see New Found Glory. It was fabulous, a secret show for 150 people! They took to me nicely because I was the only on there with the same accent as them, Cyrus especially had quite a lot to say to me. I felt special!

And finally, I just spent the last 4 days in Vienna with Ronnie, Georgie and Mamama. I flew Swiss Air which I highly highly recommend and was spoiled to death by Mamama, which I am hardly complaining about. We packed a good deal of the city into 2 full days of sight seeing. It was tiring but lovely; even though it rained the whole time we were there pretty much. It was great to see the three of them, even if it was only for a few days. It was perfect timing for a vacation, the week after I am done my old job and the week before my new one starts. I have all weekend to recover and then Monday is the big day…and Tuesday is the big birthday!

Anyway, miss you all and will see you really soon!

Andu

(insert subject here) [Jul. 13th, 2006|02:00 pm]
[mood | Just]
[music |RBS Noises]

It’s been a while since the last major (non-picture) update, so I figured I should try and knock one out of the park. Where to begin… Have been in training for the new project at work for the Royal Bank of Scotland on and off for the last month and a half doing interview training, selection methods, system training, marking and such, because we interview RBS candidates and decide if they are good enough to progress their application. It’s been hectic, but a wicked learning experience. Because I had to commit to the full 6 week run of the project I was unable to go to Israel, which if you know me, didn’t exactly break my heart. The Geller’s and Steph came in for 2 days en route to the Mother Country last Monday, slept at a hotel and then in the morning brought their stuff over to my house as they were flying out of London City, and as you know, I live 5 minutes away. They also got to meet Ghulie, and he spent a nice afternoon with us at Jubilee Place in Canary Wharf.

This week has been momentous. RBS went live on Monday and it’s been a lot of revising, interviewing, organizing and frustration, but all in all it’s been a useful experience. As we approach the end of our first week, we are all eagerly anticipating the end of the next 5 weeks to see if our hard work pays off and if we will land the permanent campaign from RBS. That, and yesterday, after a 4 and a half week recovery period at home being grumpy, Ghuls finally returned to the wonderful world of PWC. Also, yesterday I booked a 4 day trip to Paris for Steph and I, Steve says he wants to come only to see me speak French because I won’t around him.

Oh, at work we all paid £4 to end a world cup pool where you pick potential winners and goal scorers and everything. Stacey, Bianca and I each entered one and decided we would win first second and third place. In the end Bianca won and I came in second, so that was a big score. B gets £42 and I get £21, and I chose all my answers all by myself….ok not really, Muz filled out my sheet and Ghuls filled out one for Stacey (she came in 6/18). This goes to show how football-insane Muz is, he wins second place in my pool out of 18 people and wins first place in his pool out of 10 people…oh Zidane.

What else, what else? Muz’s birthday is on the 19th, party on the 22nd, the family returns on the 26th, Steph moves in with me on the 31st, we go to Paris on the 3rd, and then she goes home for good on the 15th of August. Busy busy. That’s about all I can think of right now, nothing else of interest, well Michelle Mula stayed at my place last Saturday and I made myself a café mocha this morning. Other than that I’ve got nothing.

If you want to drop me an e-mail while I'm at work I'm Andrea.Fenyes@tmp.com

Picture Post for the masses! [May. 23rd, 2006|04:01 pm]
[mood | tired]
[music |Home noises]

So I know that I have been lacking in the updates, but we only just got our internet set up a week ago. Mum has come and gone, she left yesterday and we made a trip to Budapest on her first weekend here…it was fabulous, thanks for asking. It’s nice to have some space back for a little while; I forgot what it felt like to sleep in my own bed. The guys are great, as usual, we are all just so happy with our house that no one is ever really in a mood while at home, so it’s been very peaceful, unless you count the screaming the boys do at the TV when watching football or playing one of the thousand gaming consoles they have. Muz has decided to be a Monk, so someone should tell him Monks don’t shout and scream. I don’t know if I mentioned that I have been asked to do an Extended Testing Project at work for a client I probably shouldn’t mention right now since it is a recruitment campaign that hasn’t gone live yet, so shhhhhhhh. I will be going to Manchester for training….I am sure I already mentioned this. I don’t honestly have much to say, so I will just leave you with pictures of my flat so you can see where I lay my head at night. Come to think of it, I should post pictures of the guys….ok that’s next entry.

Enjoy!

I am all alone...for the next 10 days [May. 3rd, 2006|03:50 pm]
[mood | drained]
[music |James unplugged my iPod from the charger...no music]

Well, Eva left last week, Becky left a few hours ago, and now I am all alone..until Mommy comes on the 12th. We will be going to Hungary on the 13th, so it will be nice to get away for a couple of days even if I just came back from Prague. I was sad to bid adieu to Becku (not a typo, thanks) but I know I will see her in 2 months and 1 day, so I will be ok.

I wish I had some huge update, but Becky, Ghuls and I have spent the last 3 days cooped up in the flat watching 25+ episodes of Lost. Muz was in Egypt last week and came home this morning, I am practicing admitting that we pretty much did that all weekend before I tell him and watch him laugh at me. WAIT, actually we did go to the launch of the Gum Ball 3000 Rally in Central on Sunday which was INSANE. Tony Hawk was there, and so was the love of my Celebrity Big Brother life...my dear Maggot who was riding in the most Ghetto van along with the rest of Goldie Lookin' Chain. It was crazy.  Oh and we also had people over on Friday, Stacey and Steve crashed over, but so did 2 of Ghuls 'for fake friends' who he hates. So, to make room for his two morons Becky slept in my bed and the rest of us commandeered Ghuls' room. Long story.

What else to report. Work is going well, been given alot of extra responsabilities which is nice, and I have an appraisal tomorrow and I will finally get my perm. e-mail set up so you can all e-mail me while I am at work.

Oh, Leah is flying in June 22...the visits just never end, I know you are all dying to see the flat and meet the guys. I am coming home for at least a visit in November  and the guys are coming with me, so don't cry if you can't come out here. I am still waiting on a landline and internet at home, but to be honest, its been nice not having those distractions. We can really just sit back and enjoy out house right now.

Anyway, I am out for now.

Praha [Apr. 22nd, 2006|11:18 pm]
[mood | sore]
[music |Prague sounds]

I am currently in Prague with the girlies, we arrived yesterday and will be leaving late Monday night. We fear the fact that we get back to London so late that we shall miss the last train back to Pontoon Dock.

Tomorrow is Ghuls' Birthday, I am really sad to miss it and I feel terrible about it, but he assured me it's ok. I miss the guys a lot, haven't gone more than 12 hours without seeing them in 3 months. Haha withdraw.

Other than that, we walked 7 thousand miles today. It was crazy. Been feeling a little sick teh last two days, I am thinking this may be Muz's fault. I don't have  the  net at home yet, I gave permish for Muz to put in call, but boys can be lazy and they just bought a new video game so I am thinking it won't happen any time too soon.

P.P.S. New landline number: 0208 556 5521 (call this one first as it is cheaper, but if I am not home, or some orgre-sounding South African picks up, don't tell him you are calling for me, don't leave a name, just yell mean things at him, tell him to clean his fucking dishes, hang up and call my Mobile instead.) If you want to really freak him out, his name in Quinton and he walks around with his hairy crack hanging out, so you can just let him know crack kills and he smells.

Live from work it's.....ANDY [Feb. 23rd, 2006|07:41 am]
[mood | drained]
[music |Work Sounds]

I am updating from work because BT Internet has not put up a phone pole in my area. They are taking their sweet-ass time because they don’t realize that all 5 of the new houses (owned by my Landlord) are now full of people who need internet.

Anys, I’m way glad to be out of Stratford and away from those fucking morons. Kobie, Carol and I can now stop worrying about freezing to death in our sleeps. In fact, the new house and double glazed windows are so warm the heater in my room is never on and for this first time in 3 months I don’t need to sleep with socks and a sweatshirt on. BUT the drama never stops. There was a South African couple in the loft (for all of 5 days) who broke up on Valentines day and he smacked her and bruised her face, good times, right? Needless to say they both moved out, one next door and one 2 doors down. That should be fun on Saturday when my Landlord, Burt, holds a Spit Roast for everyone now that the houses are full. Our backyard dividers come down to make a huge yard for all 5 houses. Unfortunately, pretty much everyone in the houses are Africanse except for me, Carol who is English SA, some British chick next door and Muz and Ghuls. The two guys moving in to the loft in our house are also Africanse, so is Kobie but he is so different from those other guys. We expect to clique together as a house, Ghuls and I have decided. Muz is concerned because the invite to the Roast said “starts at 1, food to be served five hours later…all you have to bring is your own drinks” and he says (in the perfect British accent, none of that Essex bullshit) “we aren’t eating until five hours later? I’m going to be in Hospital by the time they give me my chicken. They will have to deliver it to the ICU for me”. I love that guy, we are so lucky we ended up living with most of the non SA folk. We did the math last night: in 5 houses there are 35 people and 4 out of those are not from SA. This should be a fun weekend, I can’t believe I am going to miss going out with work people on Saturday to hang out in Little South Africa.

Work is a dream. I don’t think of it as work…most of the time. It really is my dream job; working for a huge international company with people my age, wearing regular clothes (we only have to wear smart dress on days where we have client visits). Depending on what clients we are assigned to, that’s what hours we work. Normally it is a rota basis starting at either 8, 9, 10 or 11:30 going until 4:30, 5:30, 6:30 or 8 pm. The schedule is supposed to rotate every week, but I am one of maybe 5 people who have been giving a permanent shift (I get 8-4:30). You know me right, I like going in early and leaving early so I am ecstatic. The one down side is that Andrew is also one of those permanent shifters and he does 10-6:30, so we have to sneak off during the day to have gossip sessions now that we never have lunch together (we’re going on 6 weeks without lunch hours here). It just sucks because when I come home and have to find another job there is probably very little chance that I will ever like another job this much.

And what else? I can’t wait to have everyone visit. I’ve got 6 visitors coming. The earliest so far that I am aware of is May 12th, but that could change as soon as the York exams schedule come up. I think that’s all I really have to say right now, other than that’s, shout out to Jonny (told you I would say hi!).

Back by Poplar (no, I didn't spell that wrong...London reference) demand [Feb. 2nd, 2006|04:23 pm]
[mood | cold]
[music |"Plane" -Jason Mraz]

Oooopsie. Long time no update (unless you count the Whale post).

Ok, first thing and most important thing first…the Whale (Phil is what we named him at work) died on his way back to the Irish Sea… £100,000 later. Then, you know what they did? You know when the Blue Jays won the World Series they had these huge sections in the paper dedicated to the team? Yes, a Whale tribute quickly ensued. The best/most pathetic part of the whole ordeal was the people who were driving by the Thames and stopped their cars to offer help (I don’t know how they could but I’m thinking it’s the thought that counts?) all got parking tickets. Har Har.

Work –I’ve been in a new job now for over a month, I work for www.monster.co.uk , it’s the fucking best job I’ve ever had bar none (did I just use that in a sentence?). Don’t get me wrong, I loved the Corporation, but there I worked with four 40 year olds, now I work with 40 people my age. It’s insane; it’s like a constant party at work especially on Fridays at 4 pm when the beer comes out. We all go out after work for drinks every Friday so that’s basically my weekend…Fridays with the crew and Saturdays and Sundays with Kobie and Carol. Oh! I even have a gay best friend at work (every girl’s dream), funnily enough named Andrew. We are such a clique, its wrong, but he’s and Auzzie so I will forever be loyal.

Oh, I am moving next week. Tanya and Johan are fucking insane, unbearable even. There is no communication between the two of them and the three of us, so the three of us gave our notice about three weeks ago, and not even a week later we got a call to come check out a house, we did and fell in love. Its brand new, never been lived in, cheaper, warmer, 3 minute walk to the tube, Tanya and Johan free….basically everything bad in this house will be replaced in our new house. It is immaculate. We’ve been moving things in slowly but surely leading up to the big day. The best part is that the two morons are having trouble renting out our rooms for the next 2 months before they are allowed to move out, so they will be stuck with the rent for the whole house and the bills. The second best part is that two of our new roommates, brothers (nic)named Muz and Ghuls are disgustingly cool, and Muz’s friend (who doesn’t live with us), Marisa is so sweet, she texted Carol after her first day at her new job to see how it went, and she called me last night to see how I was…and we only met her once really. We’re all excited.

Anything else? My visitors will be starting to arrive shortly…book your time now as I won’t accept more than one visitor at a time…unless your name rhymes with Decky or Beva, but that’s not bloody likely, oh an no more mail to the old house, now send them love letters to:

BIG post to make up for lack thereof. [Dec. 25th, 2005|08:02 pm]
[mood | good]
[music |"The Christmas Song" -New Found Glory]

Sorry it’s been so long since a proper update, I promised one after Christmas and I shall deliver.

The job: I work for the Corporation of London in Central London. It is a Government building, the Lord Mayor works or does some sort of shit there, I don’t really know. I do audio transcribing and editing for 11 lawyers and Government personnel. I really am sorry I haven’t been able to talk for the last few weeks but I’ve been going to bed early and waking up early for work.

The Christmas: The 5 of us and another guy, Stephan, spent Christmas here. Tanya and Johan made a huge dinner that took all day to prepare. It was decent, but I would definitely have made some changes to the vegetable selection (eww parsnips and brussel sprouts).

The roommates: Obviously I am growing closer with some than others. Friday was actually a lot of fun, while Tanya slept the night away, the four of us stayed up making jokes, playing very loud music, doing a 1 am snack run and watching DVDs. It was just a lot of fun and the 4 of us together is deadly fun.

The Harry Potter factor: I feel like I am in an H.Po book. I have never in my life been wished a “happy” Christmas until now. Last week someone at work asked me where my accent was from, I almost fell over dead because we all know who has the accent. (Ce n’est pas moi!)

The drama: Like any house, there is drama, but I would never publicly go into details, but in some instances the honeymoon period is WAY over. P.S, for once you will like to know I am not involved in any of this drama!

The lease: The contract on this house is up in March, so while someone has the idea that we will all uproot together, another someone thinks they can no longer live with someone else. Does that make sense to anyone who isn’t me?

The pictures: Right now I am just going to post a few pictures of the house and my room, none of the roomies as they will kill me because I really only have crap pictures of them. That will follow in a later post.

Enjoy
